Update for Walk Church Egerton, St. James. TN27 9AJ, 23rd May 2021, 1:45pm for 2pm.
Walk Church 23rd May 1:45pm for 2pm
Some further practical details for Walk Church this Sunday 23rd May meeting at Egerton Church, St James, 1:45 for 2pm.
At the moment the prospect of coming out for a walk this Sunday with our wet blustery weather may not seem very attractive. But this Sunday we celebrates Pentecost, when the Holy Wind blew into the lives of a uncertain and nervous group of disciples igniting their ministries. The dogged insistence of the wind might help us think about the Holy Spirit upon our lives? Also the wind is forecast to ease considerable by Sunday, and the threat of rain has got less. Nevertheless I’ve not made the walk too long, just 4.5km, (2.8 miles), and we have just one walk meeting at 2pm, and we’ll be walking as one group.
There is no official parking at the church, please find a place along the High Street, and remember to park considerately. We’ll be meeting in the Church yard. There was just one stile, however it is set fairly high, but sturdy. There was no live stock in any of the fields when walked this week, but there was plenty of evidence of sheep in one of the fields! Dogs under close control are welcome.
I’m delighted that we’ll be joined by the Rev’d Arthur Houston a part time priest serving in Maidstone, but also a part time farmer. We’ll be walking among some of his apple orchards, as well as hearing more about Bowl barrow burial mound that is situated among his orchards. It’s thought the burial mound dates back to 2400-1500 BC.
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
