Walk Church Sunday, 26th June – Selling and Perry Wood
Perry Wood weaved it’s charm for Walk Church last Sunday. The young people were quick to spot the small “elf doors” dotted around the wood, but also a couple of enormous rope swings! Click here for a short video of the swing
At one of the landmark ancient beech trees we gathered round for a meditation. “A wounded heart is an open heart” remarked one person. As we gazed upon the vastness of this 200-300 year old tree we could see a couple of massive gashes marking where branches had been ripped from its trunk. Cankers and other growths grew on its branches and yet this tree continues to be a tree of beauty, and inspiration as well as a host and a home to a vast number of creatures. In the Gospel Jesus expressed the sense he had “no where to lay his head” we discussed where we belong and feel at home. For the one who led us in the meditation, this tree was one such place of refuge.
Our next Walk Church is 24th July 2022 in Pluckley Forest. This meeting will have a different format. We’ll meet in the Forest Pluckley, a private wood, for a shorter walk than normal followed by tea and refreshment and a discussion about future plans and ideas for Walk Church. More details in the coming weeks. Hope you’ll be able to join us.
