In Praise of Walking, A new scientific exploration

We hear lots about the physical benefits of walking. And we also know walking is so important for our spiritual and mental well being, but why is that? Shane O’Mara in his wonderful short book In Praise of Walking, a new scientific exploration sets out some of the reasons.

For instance he points that living beings that have brains, have developed them in order to move for food, shelter, and protection; in evolution creatures that don’t need to move, loss their brain. It leads to the amazing conclusion that we, as creatures of evolutionary biology derive huge cognitive benefits to our thinking when we physically on the move.

The book is a fascinating read, and highly recommended, if not important, for anyone leading meetings in the course of walks.
