Posted: 26 September, 2024 | Category: Walks

This Sunday Walk Church meets at All Saints Standford, 1:45 for 2pm.  (All Saints Stanford, Church Field, Stanford, TN25 6UA.)  After the stormy rainy days of late, the weather forecast promises to be being dry.

Stanford lies at the foot of the last stretch of the North Downs as they approach Folkestone. (As well as close to junction 11 M20)  We will walk onto the Downs, to see the commanding views over the Weald and the coast.  From the Downs we walk back down to the pretty village of Postling and the church of St Mary and St. Radegund Postling.   Parts of the church date back to Norman times.

At the end of the walk we’ll be finishing with tea and cake back at Standford Church.

Walk Church offers outdoor Christian fellowship in the course of a walk. New comers are always welcome.

Practical information:
Plenty of parking is available in front of the church, park on the grass.  You will locate the church at the end of the short cul-de-sac “Church Field”.

The walk route is 4.1 miles.  Those with with access to digital mapping, you can click this link to view the route.

Standford church unfortunately does not have toilet facilities, but there is a pub in the village called the Drum, which is very welcoming.  However Postling Church, which we will be passing, does have a toilet.

In terms of difficulty, the main challenges will be a few steep sections, a total ascent of 110m, as well as the length of the walk.  There were 3 stiles. We cross the busy B2068 (Stone Street)

Livestock: Sheep were in several of the fields.

Dogs are welcome but should be kept either under close control or on a lead.
