It is the time of year to get out and celebrate the profusion of flowers, the bursting vegetation, and raucous birdsong. Sunday’s walk was full of beauty, though sadly we didn’t hear the nightingale I had heard earlier in the week.

Our reflections focused on Thomas, for whom the resurrection only became real once he had experienced for himself the presence of the risen Jesus. There is a parallel for us here: we have to make the experience of nature real by going outdoors and allowing our senses to encounter its magic. It’s important to take time to immerse ourselves in nature because, as the American poet Gary Snyder says, “Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”

We’re planning our next meeting for Walk Church on Sunday, 24th May, meeting at Pluckley Church.
