Walk Church Sunday 25th May 2025. All Saints Ulcombe – ME17 1DN. 1:45pm for 2pm

Walk Church meets Sunday 25th May at All Saints, Ulcombe. We gather from 1:45pm for a 2:00pm start.
This church has two main claims to fame: its two remarkable ancient yew trees—one thought to be 2,500 years old—and the fact that Cardinal Newman briefly served as priest here in 1826.
The walk follows a section of the long-distance Greensand Way, which winds through beautiful, undulating countryside. This is a key fruit-growing area, with apple orchards, strawberry polytunnels, and an increasing number of vineyards.
At the end of the walk, we’ll return to the church for tea and cake.
Practical Information
- The route is 5km (3.2 miles). Link route map for Ordnance survey or Openstreetmap.
- There are four stiles on the route.
- While there were no livestock in the fields when the route was last walked, sheep or cattle may be encountered.
- Most paths are easy underfoot, but there are a couple of short, steep sections, both uphill and downhill. One downhill stretch may be tricky—walking poles could be helpful.
